The best shaving gel out there January 9, 2004 Joseph Dewey (Orem, UT USA) 13 out of 13 found this review helpful
This is much better than all of the other shaving gels out there, and I've tried all of the major brands. In fact, the way that I found Aveeno was on my continual quest to get the best shave by trying new products.I've been shaving my head on a daily basis for years, and so it is really important for me to get good shaving materials. The last thing that I want is a bunch of razorburn and ingrown hairs on the top of my head. And, speaking of that, when I use Aveeno shave gel, I don't get razorburn or ingrown hairs. When I don't use Aveeno, then I do. I used to really like Edge gel, and believe me that this stuff is about three times better than Edge. This says that it is dermatologically recommended for sensitive skin. It is good for people with all types of skin--My skin isn't any more sensitive than the next person's. Aveeno just gives you a really good shave. My wife also likes to use this on her legs.
The holy grail of shaving September 21, 2004 Matthew Metzger (Silver Creek, NY) 11 out of 11 found this review helpful
Much like the previous reviewer, I have been shaving my head for years. I have tried probably 20 or 30 different kinds of shaving oils, foams, creams, and lotions, and none of them have compared to Aveeno.
Previously, I preferred Gillette Edge for my face, and Headslick Lotion for shaving my head. Headslick is formulated specifically for shaving your head, and I didnt think it got any better, even though I still got razor bumps, razor burn, and the occasional ingrown hair.
I bought some Aveeno from DERMAdoctor, and it has been amazing. Not once have I got razor burn, or razor bumps. I haven't had a single ingrown hair either.
The first thing I noticed about the gel was that it has great expansion. A small portion of it is more than sufficient for my entire head and face.
Normally when I use Edge gel, I lather about half my head or face, shave that, then lather the other half, because it loses its volume rather quick. I was able to lather my entire head and face with Aveeno, and not have to worry about it losing its volume.
The actual shaving is unbelievably smooth. Until I was used to it, I kept running my fingers behind the blade, making sure it was actually shaving the hair off, because it glides so smooth. I was able to do my entire face without rinsing the razor.
Aveeno shaving gel has also increased the life of my razors, because it makes the razors glide through the hair so efforlessly, and I never have to go over the same area twice.
I use it February 7, 2005 G. Waters (Bethesda, MD) 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
I tried this out because I use Aveeno lotion in the winter for my psriosis. This stuff is excellent for people with that skin condition. No complaints, I used Nivea shave gel before and I think this works better. It does have an oat smell that sometimes makes me hungry when I shave. Give this a shot, if you don't like it try something else.
Fabolous! November 16, 2007 E. Hacibeyoglu 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Aveeno Therapeutic Shaving Gel is a great shaving gel for dry & sensitive skin, and I have been using it happily for three years. It has a special blend of moisturizing and soothing ingredients (natural colloidal oatmeal and allantoin), with no added fragrance. It significantly reduces shaving bumps, razor burn, nicks and cuts to a great extent, leaving your skin smooth and happy instead of red and dry.
I also think it is very well priced like the rest of the Aveeno products, especially considering how rich the gel is. This product is also extremely accessible on the market, which is always a plus. Thanks to how rich it is, only a very small amount is enough for shaving, making it last for a few months.
In the last result, I would not say it is absolutely the best therapeutic shaving gel around; however, it is indeed the best for your buck, and the most accessible. I don't look for something better, because I don't need to. If you do, then look further into personal care items listed on amazon, there is some other stuff available for your satisfaction.
A great shaving gel! April 27, 2007 z hayes (TX) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
My husband has been an ardent fan of the Aveeno shaving gel for the past decade and the reason is because it is the only shaving gel [he swears by this] that prevents shaving bumps, due to the oatmeal ingredient. Also, it is really gentle on his sensitive skin. He actually makes me buy him this shaving gel in bulk when I go to the grocery store in case he ever runs out, so its definitely a winner!
